i have spent a lovely weekend in the city of christchurch with a great friend of mine from school, kate. we have explored some great places and tasted some really goodies. today we went to the sunday artisan market at riccarton house which hosts an array of local goodies from seafood pies- smoked salmon and dill, oyster and white wine and blue cod. they also sold freshly roasted caramel nuts. yesterday we visited a couple of the malls down here and went to an amazing chocolate shop, theobroma, which sold dark chocolate covered apricots...delicious. we also ate at a sweet wee cafe/restaurant called the honeypot cafe, where we both devoured a plate full of porcini risotto. so overall a lovely weekend away in a city clearly trying to rebuild.
