trifle

tonight we had trifle for pudding and it reminded me of my nana, doff. she makes the best trifle and i have never found anyone who makes it so nice. since being in hospital means no alcohol, the sherry was greatly missed. the key secret to the best trifle is NO jelly and NO jam!

here is how MY nana makes it:
soak a sponge in sherry and break into bits in a nice serving bowl. layer around home preserved apricots, then pour over homemade custard. whip fresh cream then spoon over. finally sprinkle broken walnut pieces on top. yum!

This looks like a great recipe! I almost never make a trifle and I love it so much.
In regards to your Christmas sweets, I recently found some incredible French dark chocolate marshmallows! I don't know if you have it in New Zealand, but you definitely must try it!
